Originally, this software was known as Navision.

Microsoft Dynamics GP (originally known as Great Plains) is another part of the Microsoft ERP solution. Its primarily an accounting software, powered by Microsoft SQL Server. It is meant for mid market businesses. It was originally developed by Great Plains Software of North Dakota.

Microsoft Dynamics SL is the fourth member of the Microsoft ERP solution family. Its functionality inculcates the automation of different day to day business operations. Originally, this software was developed as Solomon IV for Windows by Ohio based Solomon Software. The company merged with Great Plains software and was subsequently acquired by Microsoft.
